Darlain Rose, age 78, of Arlington, died at the  Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington on Friday, Aug. 15.
Funeral service was held at Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. 
Visitation was held at the church from 9 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday, Aug. 19. 
Interment was in the church cemetery. 
Darlain was born to Ernest F. and Emma (Wacker) Soeff-ker in Arlington Township on May 17, 1936. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Arlington Township by Rev. J. Busch on June 7, 1936. Darlain was confirmed  at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington, by Rev. J. Bradtke in April 1950. She was a 1954 graduate of Arlington High School and attended Minneapolis Vocational School and graduated from there in September 1955. On Aug. 22, 1959, Darlain married Richard Marvin Rose at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington by Rev. J. Bradtke. She worked at the Arlington Municipal Hospital prior to marriage and then moved to New Ulm and worked at the Loretto Hospital and for Ann Rotramel in the clinic. In 1962 she and Richard moved back to Arlington and she continued her employment with the Arlington Municipal Hospital for a total of 40 years. While at the Arlington Municipal Hospital, Darlain worked as an LPN, prenatal instructor, and also as an educator for pre-surgical patients. She had a beautiful voice and sang for many weddings in the Arlington area. Darlain loved writing books and gardening. She liked attending activities involving her grandchildren.
Darlain is survived by her husband, Richard Rose, Sr. of Arlington; children, Rick (Lorie) Rose, Jim (Janice) Rose, Darla (Dave) Felmlee, and Tony (Jenny) Rose, all of Arlington; 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Jenna, Justin (Angelica), Sammi, Renae (Andrew), Aaron, Marie, Jonathan, Nathan, and Jackson; four step great-grandchildren, Damian, Christian, Isabel and Olivia.  
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Clarence and Marge Geib; brother, Eldred; sister, Evelyn, in infancy; sisters-in-law, Ruth Olson, Lorraine Bartz and Betty Schmidt; and brothers-in-law, Gilbert Rose and Melvin Rose.
