The Sibley East School Board, during its regular monthly meeting in Arlington on Monday night, Sept. 15, voted 4-0 and adopted a resolution to accept only the required Local Optional Revenue (LOR) at approximately $354.77 per student to maintain the current voter approved authority of $654.77 per student.
School Board members Brian Brandt, Anne Karl, Dan Woehler and Missy Weber all voted in favor of the resolution.
School Board members Scott Dose and Beth DuFrane were unable to attend the meeting.
The School Board did not vote on a complex resolution to convert voter approved referendum authority to a board approved referendum authority and authorize a new approved referendum authority.
In general terms, the move would have allowed the School Board to add a board approved allowance of up to $74.50 per pupil unit.
The School Board was concerned about the potential impact this decision would have had on property taxes.
