Arlington recipient of Alzheimer’s Action Community Grant

2016-05-26

The City of Arlington is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of the ACT on Alzheimer’s Action Community Grant.

The city received a $7,000 grant and will use these funds to make Arlington a dementia friendly community. Being a dementia friendly community involves ensuring that the aging population is able to continue living in Arlington and perform everyday tasks such as banking, grocery shopping, and eating out at their favorite restaurants.

The ACT on Alzheimer’s grant will be carried out through a four-phase process.

Phase one involves convening key community leaders and team members to understand dementia and its implications on the community, then to form an action team.
