Agnes was born to Henry and Mary (Kauffmann) Janke in Jessenland Township on Sept. 6. 1915. She grew up in the Jessenland area and attended District 10 country school.  She spent many years on the farm being her father’s caregiver through his prolonged illness.  Following her father’s death, Agnes moved to Gaylord where she made her home for many years.  Agnes had a job in a cafe as a waitress, a housekeeping job and was also employed in a grocery store in the meat department.  She was then employed at the Gaylord Municipal Liquor store as a waitress where she worked for 25 years.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and also a member of the C.C.W. Society.   She moved to Arlington’s Golden Hearts in August of 2006 where she resided until March 2013 when she took up residence at the Good Samaritan Center.
Agnes will be remembered for her quiet personality, shy giggle and imitation of others’ laughter.  One of her most endearing traits occurred when she was requesting assistance at Golden Hearts or Good Sam., where she elected not to use the traditional call button but would call/sing out “Yoo Hoo.”  She will be dearly missed.
Agnes is survived by  seven nieces, Mary Ann (Jim) Kreger of Green Isle, Helen (Bill) Schrank of Le Sueur, Alice Pfarr of Henderson, Mary (Gary) Kraemer of Sartell, Cathy (Mike) Creech of Henderson, Sharon (Roger) Skluzacek of New Prague and Patty (Ed) Tolzman of Gaylord; nephew, George (Sharon) Quinn of Prior Lake; and many great nieces and nephews.
