Francis C. Strobel, 92, of Arlington

Francis C. Strobel, age 92 of Arlington passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. 
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington.  A time for friends and family to gather will take place two hours prior to the mass time at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at the church cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
Francis was born on June 22, 1922 in East Union, Carver County, to Charles and Irene (Madden) Strobel.  He was a 1940 graduate of Guardian Angels High School in Chaska and also attended the University of Minnesota Agricultural College.  
Francis served his country during WWII as an Army Hospital Ward Master. On July 2, 1946 he married Bernice Pass at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. 
He farmed in rural Arlington and worked at Arlington-Green Isle High School as a custodian. Amongst other things, Francis had a passion for old cars.
He is survived by his wife Bernice of Gaylord, children Thomas (Judi) Strobel of Chaska, Suzanne Rosckes of Glencoe, Stephen (Alyson) Strobel of Colorado, Ronald (Patty) Strobel of Henderson, Roseanne (Thomas) Buckley of New Hope, Joanne (Steven) Kleist of Richfield, Robert (Michelle) Strobel of Plato, Mark (Lisa) Strobel of Arlington, Gerard (Kathy) Strobel of Glencoe, Bridgid (Chris) Furmanek of Chicago, Ill., Jena (Kevin) McFadden of Lakeville,  24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, siblings Elaine Winter of Waite Park, Donald (Betty) Strobel of Henderson, Jean (John) Leonhardt of Crosby, Marion (Myron) Helget of Shakopee.
Francis is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Stephen Rosckes, sister Helen Moehring, brothers-in-law Ruben Moehring, Leonard Winter.
