Twenty-plus residents have expressed concerns over the 2015 Street & Utility Improvement Project.

Local resident John Paulmann presented a letter signed by 83 percent of the affected property owners to the Arlington City Council during its regular meeting on Monday night, May 18.

Residents expressed the biggest concern over the narrowing of the streets from 40 feet to 36 feet. These residents believe the narrow streets will cause safety hazards to motorists and pedestrians, especially during the winter months and when the newly renovated high school is completed.

In addition, these residents believe sidewalks should be replaced where needed, but no new sidewalks should “be constructed if the streets are not narrowed.” These residents added that people do not use the sidewalks currently in place.
