2015-11-25

Arlington Lions Club member Raymond Farniok, middle, has been a Special Olympics bowling and athletic coach with the Area 9 Sibley Sonics for three years and head bowling coach for two years. He was recently recognized at the State Bowling Celebration Ceremony on his 25th anniversary since serving in Desert Storm with the 452nd General Supply Company, Winthrop. Farniok was a sergeant in the United States Army Reserves for 21 years from 1983 to 2004. Arlington Lions Club member Laura Maki, right, presented a Quilt of Valor to him to acknowledge his service and dedication to our country and the athletes. His wife, Mary Farniok, left, who is also a coach and a member of the Arlington Lions Club, was in on the surprise and helped pick out the fabrics. Special Olympics Minnesota and the Sibley Sonics are honored to have Raymond Farniok as a coach and unified partner, according to Maki.
