The news of volunteer ambulance services and fire departments getting low on staffing is not new. What is new is that the problem has reached a crisis level creating the possibility that the 60-year service run of the Arlington Area Ambulance Service may come to an end.

“I’m not being overly dramatic in saying that the people and service that have been helping many of you now needs your help to keep the ambulance service going,” said Arlington Area Ambulance Service Director Kevin Sullivan.

He said the local ambulance service is beyond the point of “what if “or “hopefully.”

“We are at the point where without adding some new members to the staff, the likelihood that the ambulance service we have known cannot and will not continue,” said Sullivan.
