The visiting Sibley East varsity boys basketball team defeated Tri-City United 79-67 in Minnesota River Conference action on Tuesday night, Feb. 21.

Junior Gavin Bates, who surpassed 1,000 career points, pumped in 27 points. Devon Schultz topped 24 points while junior Austin Weck-werth scored 11 points. Senior Connor Kranz netted eight points while senior Scott Holmquist had five points. Juniors Jaden Podratz and Alex Sell aded two points each.

The Wolverines hit 26 of 43 shots from two-point range for 60 percent and four of nine long bombs for 44 percent. The winners also sank 15 of 22 free throw attempts for 68 percent.
