Test scores discussed at SE School Board meeting

Test scores were discussed at the regular meeting of the Sibley East School Board meeting on Monday night, Oct. 16.


According to Sibley East district testing coordinator Lynn O’Brien, in a comparison of academic achievement reports of eight area schools which included Sibley East, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine, Central, St. Peter, Glencoe, GFW, and Nicollet,  Sibley East performed sixth in math with a proficiency rate of 53.9 percent, second in reading with a proficiency rate of 67.4 percent and second in science with a proficiency rate of 64.9 percent. Sibley East ranked third overall.  


Of the eight schools, Sibley East had the largest Hispanic population with 28 percent of students being Hispanic, 67 percent white, three percent two or more races, one percent Asian, and one percent black.
