Donald R. Kubal, 85, Arlington

Donald R. Kubal, age 85, of Arlington, died at his home on Friday, June 15.
Funeral services were held at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19. Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl officiated.
Visitation was held at the church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 18. It continued one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday, June 19.
Interment was in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Don was born to Laurence and Blanche (Oblinger) Kubal in Minneapolis on July 22, 1932. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. Don married Shirley Wacker on April 14, 1956. He worked as a bricklayer for Les Pinske, Del’s Construction of LeSueur, and Adolfson & Peterson of Minneapolis. Don was a lifetime member, former post commander, and served on the color guard unit of the Arlington VFW Post 6031. He served on the Arlington A’s Baseball Association and was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and bricklayer unions. Don and Shirley were inseparable — taking trips to area casinos, walking the town of Arlington, and going to their grandchildren’s activities.  Don enjoyed being with his family, having coffee with his “Guardian Angels,” and attending church on Sundays followed by breakfast with his friends.
Don is survived by his children and their families,  Greg (Corinne) Kubal and their children, Alex, Andrew (fiancé Olivia Bovee), and Aaron; Tammy Kubal and her children, Kirby (Brittany) and their children Hunter and Colton and Brittany (Matt) Turner; Lisa (Will) Holt and their children, Matthew (Christy), Angela, and Rachel; siblings,  Harold (Pat) Kubal and Robert (Aggie) Kubal; sister-in-law, Ellie Kubal; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Lois Wacker; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Gary; parents, Laurence and Blanche Kubal; and parents-in-law, Leona and Albert Wacker.
