Chief Deputy Sheriff Pat Nienaber is the new Sibley County sheriff.

Nienaber defeated Winthrop Police Chief Karen Johnson 4,216-2,243 during the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Nienaber will take an oath of office and begin his four-year term as the new sheriff during early January 2019.

He will replace Sibley County Sheriff Bruce Ponath who did not file for re-election. Ponath has served as sheriff since 2003.
