The Sibley County Board, during its regular meeting on Tuesday morning, Nov. 27,  unanimously approved a motion to appoint Chief Deputy Pat Nienaber as Sibley County sheriff.

County Commissioners Joy Cohrs, Bobbie Harder, Gary Kruggel, Bill Pinske and Jim Swanson all voted in support of the motion.

The County Board made the move after Sibley County Sheriff Bruce Ponath passed away at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis on Saturday, Nov. 24.
