The Arlington City Council, during a recent special meeting, unanimously adopted a resolution to approve the final 2017 tax levy for collection in 2018. The tax levy will increase from $811,428 to $835,842. This reflects an increase of three percent over last year.

City Council members Michelle Battcher, Adam Cowell, Tom Hatlestad, Jim Heiland and James Jaszewski all voted in support of the resolution.

The final tax levy is lower than the preliminary tax levy which was originally set in September. The City Council, at that time, unanimously adopted a resolution to approve the preliminary tax levy for collection in 2018. At that time it reflected a 5.9 percent hike over last year.

Arlington once again has one of the lowest municipal per capita taxes in Sibley County.
