Green Isle falls to Sauk Centre 5-3 at state tourney

The Green Isle Irish baseball team surrendered an early lead and lost to Sauk Centre 5-3 during the opening round of the Minnesota State Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament at Maple Lake on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 18.


The Irish jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Green Isle loaded the bases on a walk to Lucas Herd, a single by Aaron Brusch and a walk to Brian Scherschligt. Josh Anthony followed with a two-run single.


Sauk Centre touched Green Isle starting pitcher Dylan McCormick for two runs in the bottom of the second inning and evened the score at 2-2.
