Laurence Francis Oberlin, age 90, of Glencoe, passed away at Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson on Friday, March 2.
Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6. Pastor Katherine Rood officiated.
The organist was Twyla Kirkeby.
Congregational hymns  were “Amazing Grace,” “Thy Strong Word,” “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “Abide With Me.”
Casket bearers were Laurence’s grandchildren (*Served in U.S. Armed Forces) Caleb Frauendienst, Nick Koester, Travis Koester and *Erin Abbott and (Currently Serving),*Michaela Wendlandt and *Amber Koester.
Honorary casket bearers were Laurence’s great-grandchildren *Brendan (Currently Serving), Shannon, Jordan, James, William, Haleigh, Selah, Cana, Meah, Adria, Rhesa, Seth and Dale.
Military Honors were provided by Glencoe American Legion Post #95.
Interment will follow at a later date in spring.
Laurence Francis Oberlin was born at his home in Collins Township, McLeod County, on March 11, 1927.  He was the son of Louis and Marie (Martin) Oberlin. Laurence was baptized as an infant at home and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart. He received his education at St. Boniface Catholic School in Stewart through the eighth grade.
On Nov. 7, 1950, Laurence was united in marriage to LaDonna Laabs at St. Boniface Parsonage in Stewart.  Laurence and LaDonna made their home in Glencoe.  Their marriage was blessed with five children, JoAnn, Steven, Renee, Sandra and Dennis. Laurence and LaDonna shared over 67 years of marriage.
Laurence worked as a production supervisor at Glencoe Manufacturing. He also worked at Telex, Young America Corporation and volunteered at the Clothing Depot. Laurence was a faithful member at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe and a member of the Glencoe American Legion Post # 95.
Laurence enjoyed woodworking, gardening, being outside, fishing, hunting and tinkering and fixing things.  He cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Laurence is survived by his wife, LaDonna Oberlin of Glencoe; children, JoAnn (Michael) Wendlandt of Stewart, Steven (Gwen) Oberlin of Hawaii, Renee (Clarence) Frauendienst of Kimball,                 Sandra (Paul) Koester of Glencoe, Dennis Oberlin of Winnsboro, S.C.; and Norwegian daughter, Marit (Hans) Lavoll-Borgen of Skjeberg, Norway; grandchildren, Erin (Jason) Abbott of Big Lake, Laura (Jacob) Schmidt of Ramsey, Michaela Wendlandt of Luverne, Tara (Sean) Severson of Grove City, Pa., Cale  Frauendienst of Kimball,  Amber Koester (special friend) Tyler Powell of Hutchinson,  Nick Koester (special friend Jordan) of Glencoe, Kelsey (Derek) Anderson of Glencoe, Travis Koester  (special friend Taylor Best) of  Hutchinson, MN, Emily Oberlin of Glencoe, and Carlee Oberlin of Glencoe; great-grandchildren, Brendan McKenna, Shannon McKenna, Jordan Abbott, James Wendlandt, William Schmidt, Haleigh Schmidt, Selah Severson, Cana Severson, Meah Severson, Adria Severson, Rhesa Severson, Seth Severson and Dale Anderson; sister, Flora Schaufler of Stewart; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Laurence is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie Oberlin; infant son, Bruce; sisters, Louise Antone, Mary Victorian and Anna Becker; and brother, Eugene Oberlin.
