Navy Reserves Retirement

Shelby (Ploeger) Hoffman, after 22 years, retired from the Navy Reserves on March 1. A retirement ceremony was held on April 27. Hoffman enlisted in January of 1997 as an aviation machinist mate and spent five and a half years on active duty at NAS Brunswick, Maine.   After separating from active duty, Hoffman enlisted in the Navy Reserves where she spent one year in Iraq working in detainee operations. She was ultimately promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer and has served in multiple countries to include Sicily, France, Chile, Japan, Puerto Rico, Guam and El Salvador. Hoffman is a 1996 graduate of the Sibley East Senior High School. She is pictured with her parents, Jim and Regi Ploeger, Arlington. Hoffman and her husband, Marc, have two boys, Waylon and Paxton, and live in Lakeville.
