The Sibley East varsity football team opened its season under first-year head coach Alan Halverson with a 29-13 win over visiting St. Peter on Thursday night, Aug. 31.

The Wolverine offense, on its opening possession, drove the length of the field and scored on a 29-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Gavin Bates to junior wide receiver Kameron In. Junior Remio Rivera booted the extra point kick as Sibley East raced to a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.

The Wolverine defense, meanwhile, stopped two St. Peter drives with interceptions by junior Austin Synder and senior Lucas Chavez during the remainder of the first quarter.
