The Sibley East varsity wrestling team placed eighth among 10 teams at the Norwood Young America Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Derek Steele (113) was the lone champion for Sibley East. Draydon Morton (106) placed second while Lincoln Carpenter (138) placed third.

Hastings captured top honors with 215.5 team points while Mankato West placed second with 182.5 team points. Waseca (161.5), Hibbing (141.5), New Ulm Area (119), Robbinsdale Armstrong (79), Norwood-Young America (68), Sibley East (67.5), Waterville-ElysianMorristown-Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (23) and Madelia-Truman-Martin Luther (17) rounded out the field.
