Waldo Reesen, 87, Arlington

Waldo Raymond Reesen,  age 87, of Arlington, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at the Fairview Assisted Living in Arlington where he had resided for only nine days. He died peacefully and was happy in his new home.  He was 87 years and 320 days old.
There will be a Celebration of Waldo’s Life in the VFW/Legion Building at the Sibley County Fairgrounds, 801 West Chandler Street, Arlington, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10.
Waldo was born to Carl and Martha (Fink) Reesen in Jasper on March 18, 1930. He had one brother and six sisters. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. In 1958, he married Joann Dirckx in Ghent. The couple had three sons and one daughter. The family moved to Arlington in 1970. Waldo retired from Waldbaums in 2000. He also worked as a farm hand for local farmers, and did seasonal work at Big Stone for many years.
He is survived by three sons, Ray (Jean), Bob, Rich, and one daughter, Mary Ann Hector. He has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his three sisters and other family members.
His wife, Joann; her mother (Agnes Dirckx); his parents; one brother, three sisters, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law have preceded him in death.
