Superintendent Jim Amsden discussed preliminary cost reductions for fiscal year 2020 at the regular monthly meeting of the Sibley East School Board in Arlington on Monday night, May 20.

Amsden said that Sibley East, in the past, had $200,000 or more in deficit spending each year, but that would not be the case for fiscal year 2020.

Amsden reported there will be cost reductions of  anywhere between $350,000 and $400,000 for fiscal year 2020. He said the majority of cost savings would come from reductions in positions. For example, Sibley East may not  fill some positions vacant due to retirements. Amsden added that Sibley East would strategically look at all areas and options.
