Celestine ‘Tina’ Nieland, 91, Arlington

Celestine Nieland, age 91, of Arlington,  passed away at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center on Friday, March 9.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12. Rev. James Carlson officiated.
 Casket bearers were Bruce Gerres, Brian Nemec, Jesse Sadergaski, Jacey Koepp, Cody Gerres and Keith Kroells.
Visitation was held at the church from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 11. It continued one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, March 12. 
Interment was in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Celestine “Tina” Gladys Nieland was born the daughter of Herman and Marie (Diehn) Trocke in New Auburn Township on May 28, 1920. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church.  Tina was united in marriage with Ernest Nieland  a Zion Lutheran Church on May 18, 1941. The couple made their home in New Auburn Township where they were engaged in farming. In 1993, the couple moved to Arlington. Tina suffered the death of her husband of 56 years in March of 1998.
Tina enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and quilting.   Often she would enter her goods into competition at the county fair.  She loved visiting with family and friends and never missed sending a card on a birthday or anniversary.  Tina was active in the garden club, the hospital auxiliary, card clubs and Zion Lutheran Church. She cherished the time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tina is survived by her children, Carole Jean Smith of Belle Plaine, Roger Nieland of Hutchinson, Deb (Larry ‘Buster’) Brazil of Belle Plaine; grandchildren Michelle Gerres of Belle Plaine, Julie Evers of Chaska, Stacey Nemec of Glencoe, Kimberly Sadergaski of Bloomington,  and Nicole (Jacey) Koepp of Belle Plaine; great-grandchildren, Cody Gerres, Kayla Nemec, Brianna Nemec, Leah Nemec, McKenzie Koepp, Emma Koepp and Kody Fritz; sisters-in-law, Bev Trocke of Ironton, Eleanor Trocke of Arlington and Annmarie Trocke of Arlington; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Tina is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Nieland; parents, Herman and Marie Trocke;  sons-in-law John Krueger and Orlin Smith; three infant grandchildren and one infant great grandchild;  brothers, Marvin Trocke, Everil Trocke, Maynard Trocke, Virgil Trocke and Gerald Trocke; and sisters-in-law Vivian Trocke and Martha Trocke.
