Maynard Husfeldt, age 93, of Gaylord passed away at the Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington on Thursday, Oct. 20.
Funeral service was held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24. Rev. James King officiated. The organist was Jeanne Bruss.
Congregational hymns were “Just As I Am,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Casket bearers were Adam Husfeldt, Aaron Gronholz, Baryn Gronholz, Brian Husfeldt, Gary Christianson, Jeremy Husfeldt, Kraig Husfeldt, Kurt Christianson, Michael Husfeldt, Ryan Husfeldt, Scott Husfeldt and Todd Christianson.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Maynard Christian Husfeldt was born in Folden Township, Otter Tail County, on March 10, 1923. He was the son of William and Olga (Menk) Husfeldt. Maynard was baptized as an infant on April 8, 1923, by Reverend Theo Kegel in Henning, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 5, 1936, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. He received his education at District #53 Country School.
On June 1, 1947, Maynard was united in marriage to Cordella Kistner by Rev. Bradtke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Sibley Township,  retiring in January of 1986. They moved to 710 High Street in Gaylord until May 28, 2016, when they moved to Oak Terrace Retirement Community in Gaylord. This marriage was blessed with three children. Maynard and Cordella shared 69 years of marriage.
Maynard was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. He was a member of the Men’s Club, the church council, DHIA Board, 4-H Leader for many years and an active member of the Forever Young Senior Center.
Maynard enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, old time dancing and old time music. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Maynard is survived by his wife, Cordella (Kistner) Husfeldt of Gaylord; children,              Doris (Leonard) Christianson  of Birchwood, Wis., and Daryl Husfeldt (special friend, Susie Becker) of Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren, Caroline (Aaron) Gronholz, Brian (Becky) Husfeldt, Kraig (Katie) Husfeldt, Michael (Brianna) Husfeldt, Gary (Nicole) Christianson, Todd (Nina) Christianson, Kurt (Brianna) Christianson, Jeremy (Alisha) Husfeldt, Ryan (Amanda) Husfeldt, Adam (Leah) Husfeldt, and Scott (Whitney) Husfeldt; 23 great-grandchildren, Baryn, Olivia and Claudia Gronholz, Benjamin and William Husfeldt, Mason and Lucas Husfeldt, Liam  and Hazel Husfeldt, Luke and Charlie Christianson, Addelay, Bennett, Cullen and Declan Christianson, Tucker Christianson, Madalyn and Jackson Husfeldt, Arianna and Brekken Husfeldt, Greyson Husfeldt, and Treyton and Tucker Husfeldt; daughter-in-law, Ardis Husfeldt of Gaylord; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Olga Husfeldt; and son, Dale Husfeldt on November 4, 2011.
