Dale  St. John, age 86, of Arlington passed away at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.
Visitation was held at Peace Lutheran Church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service time at the church on Thursday, Oct. 27.
Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery.  
Dale Eugene St. John was born to William A. and Caroline (Baier) St. John in Belle Plaine on May 29, 1930. He was baptized in 1930 and confirmed in May 1945 by Rev. Green at the Arlington Methodist Church. Dale served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Dale married Viola Brockoff at St. Paul’s Lutheran Parsonage in Arlington by Rev. Bradtke on Dec. 10, 1955. The couple farmed and Dale also worked for MnDOT as a Highway Tech for 29 years, retiring from that position in 1992. They continued farming until 1999 when they moved to a new home in Arlington.  Dale enjoyed farming, fishing, travel and nature.  He especially liked visiting with anyone about anything and going to grandchildren’s sporting events.
Dale is survived by his wife, Viola of Arlington; sons, Daryl (Lori) St. John and Gary St. John of Arlington; grandchildren, Nicholas St. John (fiancé Jen Anderson), Brennen, Trevor and Gracie St. John, Meagan (Kyle) DeVlaeminck, Candice (Jason) Tostenson, and Talia Gilster (special friend Victor Ruiz); great grandchildren, Arayah Hope, Cole, Bailey, Draco, Mason, Christian, Harper and Sullivan; and many other family and friends.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents William and Caroline St. John; parents-in-law, William and Alma Brockoff; daughter, Cheryl St. John; brothers, Lyle and Calvin St. John; and nephews, Jeffrey St. John and John Pieschke.
