The issue of temporary police services in the City of Arlington has taken another crazy turn.

The Arlington City Council, during its regular meeting on Monday night, March 20, learned that the Gaylord City Council had tabled action on a contract where the Gaylord Police Department would provide temporary police services in the City of Arlington.

The Arlington City Council, during a special meeting just one week earlier, had voted 4-1 and approved a motion to approve a contract where the Gaylord Police Department would provide temporary police services in the City of Arlington. The contract would have run between Thursday, March 16 and Thursday, June 15.

Under the contracted services, Gaylord Police Chief Tony Padilla would have been at the police office in Arlington on Wednesday afternoons and all day on Thursdays and Fridays. Overall, Padilla would have worked 64 hours per month in Arlington. This move would have allowed current Arlington Interim Police Chief Jordan Voigt to return to his officer duties.
