Edward A. Bleck, age 95, of Arlington passed away at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society on Sunday, Feb. 17.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time at the church on Saturday, Feb. 23.
Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Ed was born in Renville County on Jan. 27, 1924. He was the only child of Herman and Julia (Fernkes) Bleck. Ed served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married the former Verna Trick at St. Michael’s Rectory in Gaylord on Aug. 26, 1947. Ed was always a busy body, making sure he had plenty to do during his working years and also in retirement. He was first and foremost a farmer. In addition to farming he worked various jobs throughout life.He worked as a mechanic in Hamburg, at the Milk Plant and Coast to Coast Store in Belle Plaine, at Farmhand in Green Isle and in retirement he worked at the Arlington Elevator and did custom lawn mowing through fall of 2018. Ed was a big lover of dogs. He also enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, being a mechanic and was a member of Veterans on the Water.
Ed is survived by his two daughters, Carol Maeder of Arlington and Cathy (Mike) Fries of Jordan; four grandchildren, Chris Maeder, Doug Maeder (special friend, Jeri), Nichole Spicer and Jeremy (Myra) Fries; three great- grandchildren; Tavashia, Anayah and Zyra; and special friend, Glenda Effertz. Memorials preferred to donor’s choice. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
