Sibley East senior Dayne Morton captured first place  honors in the 120-pound weight division during the Minnesota State Class A Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Saturday night, March 3. Morton, who hit the 100-career win milestone this season, captured third place in 2016, second place in 2017 and first place in 2018.

“I was happy and relieved because I have worked hard to get to this point but nothing is ever guaranteed,” Morton said.

Said Sibley East head coach Chad Johnson, “I am very happy for Dayne to be able to climb the final step.  Third to second to first, that is one heck of a career.” Johnson continued, “Dayne has been the leader by example in our room. He puts in more time than anyone else. He will be a huge loss to our team next year.”
