Evelyn Burdorf, 94, Arlington

Evelyn Burdorf, age 94, of Arlington, passed away at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society on Monday, April 2.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7.
Visitation was held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 6. It continued one hour prior to the service time at the church on Saturday, April 7.
Evelyn Emma Marie was born to Alex and Emma (Karg) Kaufmann in McLeod County on Feb. 23, 1924. She was baptized by Rev. E. Kolbe at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe on March 16, 1924. On March 21, 1937, she was confirmed by Rev. Alfred Streufert also at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Evelyn received her education at First Lutheran School and District 6 Country School. On Aug. 23, 1958, Evelyn married Alfred Burdorf at First Lutheran Church by Rev. A. F. Fellwack. She helped on the family farm, did restaurant work, worked at Kruger’s Merchant Store, Big Stone Canning Company, Good Samaritan Center and did volunteering. Evelyn was a long time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington where she at one time taught Thursday School, and was a member of the Ladies Aid and church choir. Evelyn belonged to the Home Extension Group and was a club leader for the Arlington Conquerors 4-H. Evelyn loved to bake, sew and do word search puzzles. She loved visiting with family and friends, and dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Alfred Burdorf of Arlington; daughter, Mary Beth (Gary) Fitterer of Rochester; son, Mark Burdorf of Scottsdale, Ariz,; grandchildren, Matthew, Erik (fiancé Lauren Dumont) and Kelsey Fitterer; sister, Verna (Harold) Kunkel of Glencoe; sisters-in-law, LaVonne Kaufmann, Alice Kaufmann, Lorna Kaufmann and Daun Kaufmann; and brother-in-law, Victor Brinkmeier; as well as many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; Alex and Emma Kaufmann and Herman and Anna Burdorf; twin children, Bruce Alfred and Beth Louise in infancy; siblings, Hillard, Marvin, Maynard and LeRoy Kaufmann and Lorraine Brinkmeier; sisters-in-law,  Arlene Kaufmann, Arlene and Lorraine Burdorf; and brother-in-law, Elmer Burdorf.
