Arvid Soeffker, age 76, of Arlington, passed away at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on Tuesday, May 29.
Funeral services were held at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2.
Visitation was held two hours prior to the service time at the church on Saturday, June 2.
Interment was in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Arvid Wayne Soeffker was born to Milo and Bernice (Rucks) Soeffker in Arlington on Feb. 26, 1942. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from the Arlington-Green Isle High School in 1960. After graduation Arvid followed in his father’s footsteps and worked in the logging, lumber and tree trimming business. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Wentzloff at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington on Oct. 21, 1967. Arvid and Shirley were blessed with two children. Because of health issues Arvid retired from his business in 1989. He then attended Hutchinson Technical College. After college he was employed at Stork Twin City Testing Corporation in St. Paul as a Metallurgical Technician where he performed tests on welding and metals, and worked in the failure analysis departments. He retired in 2011. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and four grandchildren. His hobbies included yard work, going for coffee, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Mark (Marcy) Soeffker of Gaylord and Michele (James) Krueger of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Mitchell Soeffker, Corinne Krueger, Nathan Krueger and Katelyn Krueger; siblings, Sandy (Ray) Berger of Waskish, Charles (Jonell) Soeffker of Henderson, Terry (Irene) Soeffker of Buffalo and Renee (Wade) Stien of Sauk Centre; sister-in-law, Ramona (Gerald) Pauly of Jordan; brother-in-law, Gary (Sandy) Wentzloff of Gaylord; sister-in-law, Karen (Gary) Johnson of Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews.
Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Bernice Soeffker; brother, Donovan Soeffker; and brother-in-law, Waldo Laabs.
Kolden Funeral Home assisted the family with  the arrangements.
