Lillian Weckwerth, 96, rural Green Isle

Lillian Rose Elsie Weckwerth, age 96, of rural Green Isle, passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, Aug. 2.
Funeral service was held at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6.
Visitation was held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.  
Interment was in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Lillian was born to Edward and Freida (Schmidt) Blumke in Fairhaven on Feb. 28, 1922. She was baptized on April 9, 1922, and confirmed on Nov. 21, 1937, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. Lillian married Ruben Weckwerth at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Gaylord by Rev. George L. Matthiae on April 16, 1941. Lillian loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, baking bread and making her Pfeffernuse cookies that she gave to her grandchildren as Christmas gifts. Lillian also enjoyed sitting under the trees watching her grandchildren work on their cars.  
Lillian is survived by her children, Melva (Henry) Albers of Winthrop, Donald (Denise) Weckwerth of Robbinsdale, Verlinda (Kenneth) Stoeckman of Green Isle, and Stewart Weckwerth of Green Isle;  grandchildren, Sandra (late, Jeff) Pomplun, Lisa (Kent) Krumwiede, David (Misty) Albers, John (Julie) Brown, Alysia (David) Leonhardt, Shiela (Mike) Janke, Karen (Gary) Kurtzweg, Dennis (Kris) Stoeckman, Kevin Stoeckman, Diana (Tom) Streich, and Kris (special friend, Aly Graff) Stoeckman;  37 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Luella Lofgren, and Janette Maahs; and many nieces and nephews.  
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ruben; grandsons, Todd and Tye Brown, and Jeff Pomplun; great-granddaughter, Faith Krumwiede;  and brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd (Adeline) Bluemke, Gary (Gladys) Blumke, Elmer and George Meyer, Iver (Hazel) Weckwerth, Victor (Elsie) Weckwerth, Don Kell, LeRoy Lofgren, and Franklin Maahs.
