Shirley Roinestad, 90, Gaylord

Shirley Roinestad, age 90, of Gaylord, passed away at the Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington on Sunday, Aug. 24. 
Memorial service will be held at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29. Paul Dousi will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the Egesdal Funeral Home.
Shirley Elaine (Goldsmith) Roinestad was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 12, 1923. She was the daughter of Harold and Estelle (Klos) Goldsmith. She was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in St. Paul and was a graduate of Harding High School in St. Paul. Shirley furthered her education at Business College in St. Paul. 
On Aug. 24, 1946, Shirley was united in marriage to Salmar Roinestad. This marriage was blessed with three daughters. Shirley was a loving mother and homemaker. Shirley and Salmar shared 59 years of marriage before Salmar passed away on July 18, 2006.
Shirley enjoyed collecting stamps and matchbooks. She loved animals, was a member of the altar guild and started Twins Club for people who had twins. Shirley loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 Shirley is survived by her children,       Marsha L. (Thurman) West of Forreston, Texas, Sandra L. Roinestad of Arlington, and Carla J. Roinestad of Arlington; three granddaughters, Michelle A. (Kevin) Willeford, Heather C. (Ismael) Cortes and Crystal F.  (Tim) Stolp; seven great-grandchildren, Andrei D. Cortes, Lauren L. Willeford, Noah J. Willeford, Arieh L. Cortes, Dariel Cortes, Rilee Stolp and Kade Stolp; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Estelle Goldsmith; and husband, Salmar Roinestad.
