Field to be named after Dan ‘Buck’ Thomes

The Arlington City Council, during its regular meeting on Monday night, Sept. 15, unanimously adopted a resolution to honor Dan ‘Buck’ Thomes and name the softball/baseball field at the Arlington Sportsmen’s Park in his memory.
City Council members James Jaszewski, Jennifer Nuesse, Curt Reetz, Jason Ruehling and Galen Wills all voted in favor of the resolution.
Thomes tirelessly served as president of the Arlington Sportsmen’s Club for a quarter century, according to the resolution. Not only did he direct operations of the club, Thomes also managed softball leagues and teams, performed routine maintenance and organized park improvements.
Thomes took great pride particularly in the softball field as he prepared the field for league and tournament games.
