Louise D. Sunderman, 78, St. Peter

Louise D.  (Schneider) “Wheezy” Sunderman, age 78, of St. Peter, died  at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester on Friday, June 19.
A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter at 1 p.m. Monday, June 29.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. 
Louise Delia was born in Wahpeton, N.D., on July 5, 1936. In 1937, she was adopted by Waldemar and Delia Schneider from Arlington. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Arlington in 1950. On Aug. 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Delano Rischmiller. Together they had 2 sons, Mark and Paul. Louise worked at the Arlington Hospital and co-owned Del’s Construction in Le Sueur. Her family moved to Le Sueur in 1968. She then attended Mankato Vo-Tech and completed her LPN training. Louise worked at the Minnesota Valley Memorial Hospital for 18 years. In 1982, she married Duane Sunderman. Together, they fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening an elderly assisted living, Leisure Cottage in Le Sueur, which they ran for 26 years. In 1994, Duane and Louise sold their home and moved to Lake Washington and in 2012 moved to St. Peter where she resided until her passing. 
Louise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter where she enjoyed volunteering. She enjoyed traveling, Ho-Ho Shriners events, fishing, family get togethers, playing cards, spending time with friends and attending grandchildrens’ sporting events.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 33 years, Duane of St. Peter; children, Mark (Lori) Rischmiller of Le Sueur, Mike (Nancy) Sunderman of Kasson, Greg Sunderman of St Peter, Chris (Brian) Giersdorf of Deer River, David (Monica) Sunderman of Le Sueur and Julie (Richard) Mills of Rochester; grandchildren, Paul, John (Tasha) and Jacob Rischmiller, Rachel, Jeff, Ryan, Amber, Cassandra, Alisha, David (Christy) and Tanner Sunderman, Kari and Kyle Giersdorf, Amanda and Shawna Green, Lindsey and Matthew (Natalia) Mills; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Kathy) Schneider of Beloit, Wis., along with a niece and four nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her three-month-old son, Paul; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lutheran Social Services or the Shriners Hospital. 
St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
