Sibley East football team runs past G-F-W 56-14 for first win

The visiting Sibley East varsity football team toppled G-F-W 56-14 in non-conference action on Friday night, Sept. 16. It was the first victory for the Wolverines this season.
Sibley East got off to a fast start. On the first play of its offensive possession, junior running back Kevin Durham took a handoff and raced 79 yards for a touchdown with 9:12 left in the first quarter. Junior Holden Lindquist ran for the two-point conversion as Sibley East grabbed an 8-0 lead.
G-F-W answered with a 21-yard touchdown pass from senior Mitchell Schroder to junior Zachary Weber. Sibley East senior Cody Voight, however, blocked the extra point kick as the Thunderbirds drew within 8-6 with 3:05 remaining in the first quarter.
